Millions of Americans tuned into the first Presidential debate last Thursday and witnessed President Joe Biden appear lost, confused, and incoherent at times. It couldn’t have gone any worse. Democrats privately have been concerned about something like this happening during a public appearance. Despite their insistence that President Biden is just fine, viral clips have circulated showing that he isn’t always responsive and sometimes needs assistance. Biden did deliver a strong State of the Union address in March which gave Democratic voters and donors some relief. That relief evaporated Thursday within the first fifteen minutes of the debate.

We finally beat Medicare.

Those were the words uttered by President Biden after losing his train of thought answering a question about the national debt. The clip is difficult and sad to watch as Biden tried to recall what he was responding to before diverting to Covid and Medicare. Here is the official transcript from the debate:

TAPPER: President Trump, we will get to immigration later in this block.

President Biden, I want to give you an opportunity to respond to this question about the national debt.
